Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, Portland, Oregon

A regular old garter snake by the looks of it. Many animals and bugs seem to be camera shy. I think there are two reasons. The noise made by the autofocus mechanism and the simple fact that spheres are scary. The only natural object that looks anything like a sphere is an eyeball; a predators eyeball. And, um… maybe a dewdrop. Hmmm… Nevermind.

TimeMachine arrives at Georgian Bay, Ontario (800×600). Thanks Donald for the picture. I don’t think I would have lifted it there but it seemed to work out okay.
