Golfito, Costa Rica

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

We arrived the other day after a very mild trip around the Oso peninsula (our books says the area is “famous for its violent thunderstorms”). We had probably four knots of wind all night, then upon sunrise, it poured rain. I stood in the cockpit on watch under the umbrella while the boat just sat still in the middle of the gulf, the water pounded flat.

Samara, Costa Rica

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Time Machine checking in from the slowest internet connection on the planet. We had an annoying overnight upwind, upswell, upcurrent, upchop sail and were happy to drop our anchor in the lee of a rock here in Bahia Samara.

November 9th: ONE YEAR!! Wooo hoo!

STILL in Playa Panama

No significant progress lately. We volunteered to boat-sit for Lotus after Jerry and Joni found they had to make an emergency US trip. So we’ve been just hanging out, getting over colds we picked up in Liberia and taking advantage of the extra floor space to lay out sewing projects. We should be heading on again after the 4th Nov.

Playas del Coco

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

We arrived yesterday morning and are currently waiting for the immigration office to open back up after lunch. We sort of screwed up and are not actually anchored in town, but around the bend in Bahia de Culebra–and this may or may not be a problem. We sucked up to the Capitania de Puerto and his secretary and after a their initial irritation, they became super friendly and chatted up the aduana guy in Liberia for us. He has to drive all the way out here to confer with the Capitania and go see our boat but if it is still raining (it has been, cats and dogs), he says he won’t even bother.

Wish us luck!!
