We just passed a cute little shop and they had an knock-off Ay-Dah in the window! same little legs and everything (though they weren’t perfectly asymmetrical like yours)

I made them from wool felt (the same stuff I used for the raindrop mobile). I just stitched carefully around the edges and then ran some stitches through the center of the felt to anchor it. One could embroider eyes too or also there are probably sew-on eyes that you could attach securely for a baby. I thought maybe the felt was the most worry-free though.
